Colleen began teaching a web design class at the local community college last month. The class is once a week in the evening for a semester. Additionally, Colleen has been volunteering time updating a pet adoption site.

Please check out the web site for recently added work. Even more will be posted in the next few weeks.

NLBMDA ad series, brochures and HTML e-mails

Case: The client needed a new look for a set of three four-color, full-page ads; two four-color brochures; and three HTML e-mails. Each piece needed to have its own look while still retaining some kind of consistency. While free reign was given for the design, the one conference ad still needed to look related to its previously designed brochure.

Solution: Because the client's industry pertains to building, a grid design seemed an appropriate choice. This was carried through to each piece while still giving each one its own look. All of the pieces share the same fonts and color palette (outside of the photographs used).

The conference ad includes the image of the Capitol, as does its existing brochure, to ensure recognition and consistency between the two pieces. But it still lends itself to the set of work as a whole with the above similarities.

The three ads (top) were modified to be used as HTML e-mails.

The membership brochure (below, A) makes use of a Z fold and is 11x8.5. The cover is the leftmost panel of the first page and the color blocks bleed onto the second panel, allowing the design to be a little bit funky (without alienating its audience) but still adhere to the confines of the grid.

The second brochure (below, B), a 14x8.5 gatefold, borrows one of its images from its corresponding ad and another image from the membership brochure.
