Workflow
What is the best time to make edits to the copy?
All text should be edited and proofread prior to sending to the designer. The earlier in the process that edits are made, the less expensive it is to make them. We do allot a certain amount of time for revisions for each job, but once a file has gone to the printer, it costs time and money to make them. Please refer to
this flow chart (PDF) as a guide for making changes in the printing workflow.
How do I convey edits to the designer?
What if I have edits that need to be made after the piece has gone to the printer or been published to the web?
Edits may still be made once you receive a proof from the printer, but keep in mind your print delivery schedule may be delayed as a result, and there may be a charge from the designer and/or printer for the edits. Please refer to our
Print Workflow guide for when to make certain types of changes.

Images
Can I use any image I find online?
Nope! You should assume you cannot legally use them unless otherwise stated.
What resolution do my images need to be?

Printing
How will the files get to the printer?
We will send the print files directly to the printer and maintain communication with them throughout the rest of the process.
Will you take care of choosing a printer?
Yes. There are several printers with whom we have long-term relationships.
Won’t it cost less if I find and choose a printer?
Nope! We don’t resell or mark up the printing. You pay the printer directly. In fact, you might actually save money by using a printer with whom we have a long-term relationship.
May I use a printer I have worked with?
Yes. We are happy to use the printer of your choice.

Websites
What is information architecture?
Information architecture is the relationship of how all the different pages of a website are related to each other. This is communicated visually through a sitemap.
Here is an example of a sitemap. What is an interactive prototype?
An interactive prototype is a blueprint of your website demonstrating the functionality and features as they will work in the browser. No design elements are applied at this stage, as the prototype is just built to allow all parties to make final decisions on the functionality.
Here is an example of a prototype. Why do you use WordPress?

Furthermore, the community of WordPress web developers is global and allows us to tap into this collective intelligence and bring that wealth of experience to your project
Where is the website hosted?
Your website needs to be hosted by a hosting company that specializes in WordPress hosting. There are many companies that do this. We prefer to make a recommendation should you require one but are happy to oblige if you have a host you are happy with.
Whom do I contact if something goes wrong with the website or I can’t figure out something?
We provide training and video tutorials to assist you in using your website once it is launched—for a limited time or as long as you are a subscriber to one of our ongoing
website care plans. We will be your first point of contact should something go wrong with your website. We will determine whether it is an issue the hosting company needs to fix or something that is covered by your website care plan.
What happens after the website is launched? Am I on my own?
Once your website is launched, we provide training in two ways to make sure you are confident using your new website:
- Video tutorials and a user guide inside your website dashboard (available for a limited time or as long as you are a subscriber to one of our ongoing website care plans);
- Live training by phone, Skype or Zoom (typically about 30 minutes.
Some clients opt for the video tutorials prior to the live training, and others vice versa.
We will also provide 30 days of support to address any potential bugs. After this, you will need to subscribe to one of our ongoing website care plans to make sure your website is looked after and maintained—for security and performance reasons. These plans include updating your software, regular backups, security checks and making sure your website is online 24/7/365.
How long will it take to appear at the top of Google?
The time it takes for your website to appear on page 1 of Google depends on a number of factors. It depends on the search phrase people are using to find your website and the number of other websites that are also available for those search phrases. Nobody can truly say how long it will take for your website to appear at the top of search engine results pages (including people who actually work for Google). However, there are a number of factors that can improve your chances. Building your website on WordPress is a good start, as WordPress has some great search engine optimization fundamentals built-in. Creating unique and interesting content on a regular basis for your website is also critical to increase your visibility among search engines. Launching your website and then forgetting about it is a surefire way to get lost among the noise. We are happy to talk to more about your search engine strategy if we haven’t already.
How will I know if anyone is visiting my website?
We install Google Analytics on your website and show you how to log into your Google Analytics account, where you can see a wide range of statistics about your website: number of visits, page views, amount of time people spent on the site, etc. When you subscribe to one of our
website care plans, you will also receive more detailed analysis about your website performance and recommendations on how to improve.
What happens if I want to add some features to the website while you’re building it?
While we like to be flexible and responsive to your needs, we also like to deliver what we promise within the timeframe and budget that has bee agreed upon. If you ask us to add new features to your website while we are building it, we will want to know the reason why. If we all agree that your new request will help us achieve our objectives, we will be more than happy to oblige. If the new feature is something you would like to add to your website but is not directly tied to your original objectives, then we will suggest scheduling it for a second iteration of the website once it has been launched. This will require a new estimate.
