Background

The authors of the book are college professors who collaborated on writing a textbook on statistics.

Problem

Statistics can be a daunting subject. The authors wanted the book design to reflect the style of their writing: conversational and friendly, not overwhelming.

Solution

The cover design includes angled lines to echo the shape of the hang glider in the photo (which was selected by the authors). We used vertical and horizontal lines on the section and chapter start pages to mimic those used in mathematical equations. Our work also included formatting hundreds of equations (some multilevel) and formulas.
